Award | BaF Receives Nearly Zero-Carbon Building Design Award

2025-12-30
The 2025 Net Zero Architecture Design Awards results are announced! Both the “Sustainable Innovation Testbed – Low-Carbon Circular Reception Center” and the “HURC Dao Xiang Public Housing” have been honored with the Award.
The “Sustainable Innovation Testbed – Low-Carbon Circular Reception Center” (Farglory Sustainable Reception Center) conducts circular experiments guided by the principles of disassembly and renewability. The project incorporates 20 low-carbon circular strategies, including environmental simulations and analyses using BIM, modularized timber structural components, as well as furniture made from recycled waste materials and gabions filled with recycled aggregates. The primary structural materials are designed for circular reuse, allowing the reception center to be dismantled and reconstructed at different sites, reused up to a third cycle, and achieving a 130% reduction in carbon emissions.
For the “HURC Dao Xiang Public Housing” the sustainable design maximizes the spacing between the two building volumes to create smooth ventilation corridors, enhancing outdoor comfort for residents. The residential corridors are open at both ends, and even the stair halls can be naturally ventilated through operable windows, fostering a well-ventilated living environment. The façade design incorporates the local imagery of “fragrant rice fields,” while its light-colored surfaces reduce heat absorption by the building envelope, thereby lowering indoor temperatures.
