At the end of 2025, the National Archives Building, designed by Kuo Ying-Chao, Principal Architect of BaF, received recognition in the Shopping Design BEST 100 – Architectures & Spaces of the Year category.
As Taiwan’s first National Archives, the project is centered on the concept of an “Archive Vault.” Respecting the site’s original ecology, the building is carefully embedded within the surrounding forest. Its façade features gradient brick-red coated glass, echoing the red-soil sedimentary landscape of Linkou and the accumulation of history over time. The translucent curtain-like upper structure symbolizes openness, transparency, and the digital transmission of information.
More than a repository for historical records, the National Archives Building articulates the precious value of archives and the spirit of openness through Architect Kuo Ying-Chao’s distinctive architectural language.

Officially opened to the public last month, the National Archives welcomes visitors to explore this place where history and the contemporary intersect, an inviting starting point for a new journey into Taiwan’s collective memory.
