MOC | Po-Wei Lai’s Parasitic Temples Selected for “Books From Taiwan”

2025-12-04
Architect Po-Wei Lai’s book Parasitic Temples has been selected for the Ministry of Culture’s “Books From Taiwan” program! In this work, Lai offers a unique perspective on how small urban temples, often found in the gaps of Taiwan’s cities, adapt to social change and continue to shape everyday spaces.
The Ministry of Culture’s Books From Taiwan program highlights works with strong international licensing potential and distinctive local cultural value, giving outstanding Taiwanese books the opportunity to be discovered, translated, and published by international publishers.
This year’s selected works also include Prof. Lin Tzu-Ping’s Temperature Justice, A Taste of Dadaocheng, which explores urban culture in Taiwan, and Taiwan’s Century-Old Markets, a documentation of the island’s traditional markets.
