TaiSugar Circular Village (TCV) is in the Shalun Smart Green Energy Science City, Taiwan. This residential project is the first in Taiwan to focus on circularity, foster a close connection with nature, and value a “people-oriented” community. Taiwan Sugar Corporation (TSC) has taken a bold initiative to experiment with this new economic model.

The TCV is 10 minutes from Tainan High-Speed Rail station, with a site area of 13,995 square meters. This development consists of three identical housing blocks, a circular demo-house (C-House, the shared facilities with gym, library, tool room, and laundromat), and an eco-house (E-house, the shared kitchen with aquaponic system). There are 351 rental units of mainly studio apartments with a small number of one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom apartments.
In this project, we have categorized the idea of circularity into a few aspects, including the Circular Concept, Circular Management, Circular Resources, Circular Living, and Circular Policy, to help us positively explore new possibilities and solutions in circular architecture.
