Rest in the south, experiment in the north
There are two main functions of deep pool: staff office space, model test and maintenance space. The staff office area is arranged on the south side of the volume, providing good ventilation and lighting on the south side; the model test area is arranged on the north side, where the test materials could be loaded and unloaded through the road on the north side of the site, separating the space for personnel and heavy vehicle operation. The entrance hall of the deep pool is on the southeast side of the volume, forming the centripetal feeling of the ocean park together with the entrance of the second center of the first phase.
Curved ceiling and soft borders
To tackle the hot sun in the south, a large canopy is provided so the cool shades are casted for the staff office area on the south side and provide efficient solar power generation. In addition, solar panels of different colors and different degrees of light transmittance are used to create the image of waves on the roof.
Generous and a welcoming entrance
The corner of the ceiling is raised to provide a high and extended shade for the entrance hall, and it also creates the image of a generous welcome at the entrance of the deep pool. Through the staggered solar panels, the rich light and shadow changes are casted under the roof. In addition, the hollow grid is also used to guide the three-dimensional spread of the ground plants, creating the core concept of the overall design: the image of the waves kissing the earth, and the green and the waves are intertwined.
