Award | Taichung Arena Wins International Architecture Awards
Jointly designed by Bio-Architecture Formosana and Kengo Kuma & Associates, the “Taichung Arena” has recently been honored with the 2026 International Architecture Award (IAA).
Jointly organized by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, the IAA stands as one of the oldest and most globally celebrated architectural accolades.
Departing from traditional enclosed arenas, the Taichung Arena is anchored in the core concepts of “openness and accessibility”. Three sky corridors connect the ground level to the rooftop, inviting the public to walk, jog, or cycle.Integrated with green planting and rainwater collection systems, these corridors seamlessly weave sustainable ecological design into daily leisure. This allows the concept of “movement” to extend beyond the walls of the venue, organically integrating into the everyday routines of the citizens.
