The groundbreaking ceremony for Novatek's new facility in Tongluo Science Park, Miaoli, was recently held. The project is designed by Bio-Architecture Formosana (BaF) Principal Architects Chris Chao and Ching-Hua Chang.

Inspired by the intricate patterns of semiconductor chips, the building façade creates layered light and shadow through variations in texture. This design language is further reinterpreted into the form of the native tung blossom, symbolizing the harmonious integration of sustainable nature and advanced technology.

The new facility is targeting Taiwan Green Building Gold Certification and LEED Silver Certification. The design incorporates principles of the circular economy and carbon reduction through a range of sustainable strategies, including on-site solar power generation, extensive landscape planting, preservation of existing mature trees, as well as an energy-efficient building envelope, high-performance HVAC systems, and energy-saving lighting.
