Earth Day |Visiting Yongtai Forest Farm & Jang Chang Lumber Industry Ltd.
2026-05-25
As part of this year’s Earth Day activities, BaF visited not only Te Feng Lumber, but also Yongtai Forest Farm and Jang Chang Lumber Industry Ltd. in northern Taiwan, embarking on a sustainability learning journey from forest to timber.
During the visit, participants learned to identify three major tree species—Japanese cedar, Taiwan red cypress, and Chinese fir and took part in measuring tree height and diameter, as well as experiencing forest carbon sink surveys firsthand. Through on-site measurements and calculations, the team gained a deeper understanding of how trees and forests absorb and store carbon, while recognizing the vital role forests play in a sustainable environment.
Through this field trip, the BaF not only rediscovered the value of domestic timber, but also experienced how responsibly managed forests can both sustain natural life cycles and become one of the key materials for a low-carbon future. What BaF sees is a pathway toward sustainability.
Moving forward, we will continue exploring the possibilities of timber construction, integrating low-carbon architecture into everyday life and shaping the foundation for the next generation.
